Conflict Theory
Social and economic factor are the cause of deviance.
Wealthy control society through politics and business.
Power Elite
Group of wealthy and influential people who control power and resources.
Have access to national and international power that decisions effect everyone in society
Legal Codes
Maintains social codes through laws.
Rules adopted and enforced by political authorities.
Criminal Justicce System
Organization that exist to enforce legal code
Has three branches. The police, the courts, and the correctional system.
Social Order
Practice and behaviors on which society's members base their daily lives.
Contrast social chaos or disorder. It is part of ethical framework.
Conformity
Choosing not to deviate
Behaviors and beliefs to match the group or accepted norms in society.
Master Status
Describes the chief charecteristics of an individual.
Influences how individuals are perceived and how they see themselves.
