To recreate this environment gardeners must plant in unheated greenhouses, or gothic style hoop houses and in extremme temperatures floating row cover.
As long as vegetables are not exposed to temperatures below 12 degrees celsius they shoould be hardy enough to survive freezing temperatures

harvest two more crops per winter
Extra crops could pay for the propane
5-6 crops per year instead of 3-4
