Chapter 4: Public Da'wah and Persecution
Going Public(after 3 years of private Da'wah)
Our Prophet climbed to the top of safa and shouted "Ya Sabaha"(a warning for when danger is near)
Quraish gather and are taking our Prophet seriously about Islam till Abu Lahab throws in a bad word about the subject dispersing the people
Allah responds in the Quran with surah Al-Masad stating Abu Lahab's fate in Jahannam
Proofs of Prophethood
1: Surah Masad stated Abu-Lahab's fate in hell which is something easily disproved(By Lahab becoming Muslim) and is risky for our Prophet to drop if he was faking Islam.
2: if he wanted power and money he would bend back for the elites but he didn't
Persecution Begins
Propaganda and Smear Campaign
Quraish tries to accuse him of being: sorcerer/psychic(disproved because his speech didn't match)
Of Being: Majnoon(crazy)(disproved because he doesn't hold the characteristics of a crazy person)
Of being: a poet(disproved because the Quran didn't match poetry)
Final accusation: Sorcerer
Political pressure on Banu Hashim(Prophet is gaining many followers)
Quraish asks Abu Talib to make our Prophet stop
Abu Talib tries to convince our Prophet to stop but in the end gives in
Pretend Negotiations
Quraish offers our Prophet: Money
They offer: power
They offer: treatment to his 'hallucinations'(mockery)
Other narration they offer: women
Allah responds with Surah Al-Fussilat
In it he mentions Aaad and Thamud's fate which is known to Quraish scaring Abu Waleed who was sent to our Prophet
Quraish tries to convince Abu Talib to convince our Prophet to leave the lower class early Muslims(fails)
Allah responds with surah Al-Anam
Persecution Begins continuation
Demanding miracles
Quraish demanded: mountains to be moved
Our Prophet considered this offer but if Allah granted them with this and his people didn't accept Islam the grace period would end so he didn't ask for the miracle.
They demanded: lakes and rivers
They demanded: bringing a forefather of their come back(Qusay)
They demanded: Angels to testify for him
They demanded: money to fall upon him
They demanded: Him to come with divinely written documents from the sky with angels
Verbal and physical abuse
When our Prophet would pray they would harass him either physically or verbally
Allah told our Prophet to lower his voice when he prayed in order for him to not trigger the Kuffar
