COMMON FORMS
Ability: can, could → poder, saber hacer algo.
Permission: can, may → permitir.
Advice: should, ought to → aconsejar.
Obligation: must, have to → deber, tener que.
Possibility: may, might, could → posibilidad.
Future or willingness: will, shall, would → futuro o cortesía.

Modal verbs are auxiliary verbs that express ability, possibility, necessity, permission, or obligation.

Key Rules
No take -s in third person (He can, not He cans).

The negative is formed by adding not (e.g., should not → shouldn’t).
The question form is made by inverting the subject (e.g., Can you...?).

“Had better” is a modal-like expression (not a true modal verb, but used like one).
