Attrition
Rock fragments are carried by the sea knock into each other. Over time it creates the rocks smoother.
Abrasion
The grinding and rubbing of pebbles against the cliff like sandpaper. This makes the surface smoother.
Solution
Sea water will react with certain types of rocks and dissolve them, causing them to break down
Hydraulic Action
The sheer force and power of the waves smashing against the cliffs. This traps air in cracks, creating pressure. Rock fragments blast off the cliff.
