- - - - Gospel of Thomas- 114 works attributed to Jesus that are not in the Bible due to the Gnostic teachings. The problem with Gnostic teaching in relevance to the Gospel of Thomas is this Gospel states "The Kingdom of Heaven is inside and outside of us." which is contradictory to the use of Churches being necessary to teach us what the message is.
      - The Gospel of Judas- Like the Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Judas is text attributed to Jesus that isn't in the bible due to the contradictory teachings of Gnostic Christianity in comparison to mainstream doctrine. In the Gospel of Judas it is described as a plan to crucify Jesus to liberate his spirit from his physical body, but in mainstream doctrine it is an act of betrayal. Therefore the Gnostic teaching is that Judas of Iscariot is favored for following the plan of crucifixion, but it is more commonly viewed that he was a traitor.
      - Marcion- Early Christian who came up with idea of having a Bible. Wanted to have no Old Testament because the Old Testament God was not a nice being. Claimed Jesus was pure spirit which contradicts a central theme of Christianity-which is that Jesus suffered on the cross.
      - Gospel of Mary Magdalene- says salvation comes from internal spiritual knowledge which directly contracts the basic Christian principle that church is necessary to learn the word of the Lord.
- - - - Canonical Gospels- four accounts of life, death, and resurrection of Jesus that are in the New Testament.
        
        Matthew- Presents Jesus as the Jewish Messiah, fulfilling Old Testament prophecy.
        
        Luke- Presents Jesus as the Savior for all people, highlighting his compassion for the poor, women, and marginalized.
        
        Mark- Portrays a human and action-oriented Jesus, emphasizing his suffering and servanthood.
        
        John- Emphasizes Jesus's divinity and his identity as the eternal Son of God, the "Word" made flesh.
        
        Mystical Gospel- The gospel of John is often referred to as the Mystical Gospel because it is considered more theological than historical which provides a more spiritual interpretation of Jesus rather than a chronological one.
        
        Synoptic Gospels: Mark, Matthew, Luke: Considered Synoptic Gospels because they're all told in the same narrative with the same stories and events in a similar order. The Gospel of John contains different content and is distinct from the others. Synoptic means "seeing together" which describes the perspectives of Luke, John, and Matthew as their points of view are viewed together and parallel.
