Values shape our relationships with ourselves, others, God, and the environment.
.
Environment
Values such as stewardship, sustainability, and care for nature shape how humans interact with the environment.
According to Malaysia’s Madani framework, sustainability promotes responsible resource management to ensure the well-being of both present and future generations (Jabatan Perdana Menteri, 2023).
For example, engaging in reforestation and minimizing waste demonstrates respect and care for natural resources
Self
Values such as honesty, discipline, and self-respect shape how individuals manage their personal growth and well-being.
According to Schwartz (1992), values like self-direction guide individuals in making ethical choices, showing the importance of values in personal development.
For example, practicing self-discipline and time management helps a student achieve academic goals.
Creator
Values such as gratitude, devotion, and moral integrity guide how individuals relate to the Creator.
Islamic scholarship emphasizes that adherence to ethical principles such as honesty and justice is essential for strengthening one’s relationship with Allah (Nasr, 2003)
For example, engaging in regular worship and doing good deeds demonstrates devotion and thankfulness to God.
Others
Values such as empathy, kindness, and fairness influence how people treat and cooperate with others.
According to Daniel Goleman (2013), empathy and respect in social relationships are essential for building trust and effective collaboration.
For example, Malaysia’s Madani value of well-being encourages helping neighbors and promoting social harmony.
