The body is resistant to insulin, so due to the cells not responding appropriately and the pancreas not being able to respond appropriately due trying to constantly compensate the body with insulin. Blood sugar levels rise over time.
Hyperglycemia
Excess glucose causes the blood vessels to becoming sticky which leads to inflammation and buildup of plaque (blood vessels become less flexibly and blood flow is restricted over time)
Damaged Blood Vessels

Hyperinsulinemia that is not effective to lower blood sugar plus systemic inflammation from chronic high blood sugars

Treat with Metformin to help manage the hyperglycemia. Works by lowering amount of glucose produced by liver , and reducing glucose absorbed orally, and increasing the bodies sensitivity to insulin.
