University dropout rates in Colombia.
One in three students in the higher education system ends up dropping out of their studies
Traditionally, dropout rates have been measured by the annual rate, that is, the percentage of students who drop out during the academic year compared to the number of students enrolled.
There is no reliable method that accurately measures the number of desertions.
For further information, “university dropout” is the abandonment of a professional career, whether voluntarily or due to force majeure.
Late dropout occurs in the second half of a career.
Dropout is premature when the student is accepted for admission but does not enroll; it is early when it occurs in the first semesters.
The causes are multiple.

Some prevention methods are:
Implementing tutoring and academic support programs from the moment a student is admitted is one of the most effective strategies to motivate students and reduce dropout rates.
These programs allow students who have academic difficulties in different university programs to receive the necessary help to improve their performance and continue their studies throughout their academic career.
