- - - - These are given where the judge or magistrate thinks the offence warrants a custodial sentence, but suspends it (so it isn’t immediately served)
      - The judge or magistrate sets a sentence of more than 14 days, but less than 2 years
      - This can be suspended for up to 2 years
      - The offender must comply with conditions set by the court such as being subjected to a curfew and regular meetings with probation
  - - - Only available for certain crimes e.g. violent sexual offences
      - The purpose is to protect the public
      - The offender will receive a custodial sentence plus an extended period of licence
      - When on licence the offender will have conditions on residence, travel, and will have regular meetings with supervision officers
- - - - Unpaid work requirement
        
        Up to 300 hours, completed within a 12 month period, work within the community e.g. litter picking
      - Curfew requirement
        
        Between 2 - 20 hours per day, completed within a 2 year period
      - Rehabilitation activity requirement
        
        Such as debt, behaviors, relationships
        
        Offender will be required to attend appointments with probation, court will specify the number of activity days that the offender must complete
      - Exclusion requirement
        
        Prohibits the offender from going to a particular place or area
        
        Will also use an electronic tag
        
        Maximum 2 year period
      - Drug rehabilitation
        
        Duration is set by the court
        
        Can be residential or non residential
      - Alcohol treatment
        
        Can be residential or non residential
