animal virus- attaches to receptors (proteins and glycoproteins) on plasma membrane, once virus attached, will activate pinocytosis (shrinks the plasma membrane to bring virus inside of the cell) then protein coat of virus is digested by our own enzymes, this then releases viral DNA or RNA. some animal viruses can cause cancer by turning many cells into tumor cells via its infection (HIV). also has its own lytic infection. persistant infection is when it releases slowly but cell remains alive (HIV). latent infection, starts a a lytic infection that then becomes latent, first exposure you get lytic infection, you get meds to make virus dormant, this makes it a latent infection, can be lytic again if stressed or stuff. latent can be -herpes, cold sores, chicken pox/shingles
