NEONATAL NIV PA #2, Make sure to ask for an Order before going to change…

- - - - PREPARE FOR INTERVENTION
        -Sats low & Increased WOB = CPAP, turn O2 up beforehand
        -Apnea (ABD's) = Stimulation of baby
        -No response = PPV
        "Do I have chest rise?"
        -PPV until recovery
        "Is baby making spontaneous efforts?"
        -Can hold CPAP before taking the mask off
        
        Reassess Intervention
        -"I'm just going to reassess, how is baby's WOB?"
        -"I'm gonna take a look at sats & make sure they fall within COD profile"
        
        Once baby is STABILZED, continue w Assessment
        1) Is the RR that I'm seeing match whats on the monitor?
        
        Auscultate
        "What do I hear?"
        
        Diagnostics
        "Do we have any diagnostics for baby?"
        
        Decide on tx & ask for an order
        "I think baby could really benefit from bc_ so I'm going to ask the doctor for an order for __"
