Body systems - Coggle Diagram

- - - - All nerves outside of the brain and spinal cord- Gather sensory information from the environment and sends it to the CNS. It then sends it from the CNS back to muscles and organs to produce a response.
    - - Brain- The Main control center that processes information, allowing you to think, feel, move, and be aware.
      - Spinal Cord- A long bundle of nerve tissue that extends from the brain down through the back. It transmits messages between the brain and the rest of the body.
- - - - Lungs- Work harder to produce more oxygen and remove carbon dioxide. Breathe harder when stressed.
      - Airways- Expand to let more air come in the lungs.
    - - Heart- the rate increase to help blood flow to muscles when stressed to get the muscles more oxygen.
      - Blood vessels- the blood vessels widen to help blood get to the muscles faster.
  - - - Heart- Powerful muscle that pumps blood throughout the body
      - Veins and arteries- Carry blood to and from the heart.
      - Blood- Carries nutrients, oxygen, and hormones throughout the body.
    - - Diaphragm- A muscle below the lungs that contracts and relaxes to help draw air in and push it out.
      - Lungs- The main organs of respiration, containing millions of tiny air sacs called alveoli. Main purpose is to facilitate breathing, gas exchange, and the removal of waste gases like carbon dioxide from the body.
