Interesting thought: Oftentimes the fear of patients stems from the scare of disrespecting the providers. This shows me communication is built on trust and empathy.
Question: How do providers balance questions and time constraints. Since providers must see so many patients and have a busy schedule how do they regulate this to stay on track?

Effective phone communication requires clarity, simplicity, and intentional listening. Professionals must use clear and simple language for best understanding.
Body posture can heavily influence tone. It is found that even standing rather than sitting encourages a better tone when on the phone
Using familiar words and defining technical terms of medical jargon can increase understanding and prevent miscommunication.
Interesting thought: The speaker has the main responsibility of ensuring understanding on a phone conversation.
Question: How can providers ensure effective telephone communication with limited English proficiency patients?
