Theodore Roosevelt (1901-1908)
Roosevelt's foreign policy is known as the "Big Stick" Diplomacy"
His policy believed that American military should be used to civilize other countries specially to expand to Latin America and the Pacific.
Countires involved many Latin American (Roosevelt Corollary) countries including Panama (Panama Canal), Colombia, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Nicaragua.
William McKinley (1896-1901)
McKinley's foreign policy did not have a name but known as American Expansionism
Foreign policy goal was to become a global power and expand overseas.
Countires invlolved: US and Spain (Spanish American War). The aqusition of Puerto Rico, Guam and Philippines. Open door policy with China, Britian, Germany, France and Russia.
William Howard Taft (1909-1912)
Taft's foreign policy known as the "Dollar Diplomacy"
His policy believed US should invest in foreign economies and was less aggressive than Roosevelt
His policy wanted stability in Latin America and expand in China
Woodrow Wilson (1913-1920)
Wilson's polcy became known as Moral Diplomacy
His policy believed that US should spread peace and democracy. Wilson believed that other nations should be self governing.
Wilson sent military to Haiti to guard against the Germans and French. He also intervened in the Dominican Republic and Mexico
