Heart Failure - Coggle Diagram
Heart Failure
DEFINITION
The inability of the heart to pump an adequate supply of blood because the heart is too weak or stiff
Right sided HF
most often caused by left-sided HF
Signs and symptoms
Swelling in lower extremities
Heart loses some of its ability to move oxygen-depleted blood to the lung to pick up new oxygen
Left-sided HF
The left Ventricle doesn't pump efficiently
prevents the body from getting enough oxygen-rich blood
The blood backes up to the lung instead causing pulmonary edema
Diastolic HF
The heart mucsle becomes stiffer than normal
leads to a lack of blood flow to organs
more common in women
Systolic HF
The heart mucsle loses its ability to contract
Contractions is necessary to pump oxygen-rich blood to organs
more commen in men
Risk factors
Smoking -High fat intake -anemia -hyperthyroidism -hypothyroidism-obesity
Signs and symptoms
Dyspnea -cough -fatigue -edema -ascites-anorxia -weight gain -crackels sound
Diagnosis
