Walby - Not all women share the same experience of inequality - patriarchy has shifted from private to public. Six structures of patriarchy: 1. Paid employment - discrimination, lack of opportunity, horizontal/vertical segregation. 2. Household - exploited, do all housework and childcare and work full time. 3. Violence - used to control women. 4. Sexuality - men praised for many sexual partners, women condemned, double standard. 5. Cultural institutions - women narrowly represented often just as sexual objects or mothers. 6. State - rules, laws, taxes all in favor of men.
