Charlie Bucket, a poor but kind boy, lives with his family near the closed Wonka Factory. When Willy Wonka announces a contest to find five Golden Tickets hidden in chocolate bars, Charlie miraculously finds the final one after several failed attempts. He and his Grandpa Joe join the factory tour alongside four other children, each of whom is eliminated due to their greed or bad behavior. In the end, Wonka reveals he is searching for an heir and chooses Charlie for his honesty and kindness. Charlie values his family above wealth, inspiring Wonka to reconcile with his estranged father, Dr Wilbur Wonka, and eventually welcome Charlie's whole family into the factory.
