Rhetoric is how communication persuades a person, it doesnt necciscarly have to be textual, things change over time and as things change peoples ideas change as Palczewski says in RCL "Much has changed since Aristotle Wrote- for example, for example, photograhy, mass media, the Internet." (Palczewski 12)
Rhetoric uses communication to influence people but what do people need to be conviced? There are three ways a person can persuade and thats my using Ethos Pathos and Logos, credibilty, emotion and logic. (Palczweski 91)
How we break down an argument according to Palczewski is by looking at the claim at first then to see if the claim has any support behind it, is there any evidence for this claim, and lastly using reasoning is this even realistic? This teaches crtical reading and making sure to analyze a text (Palczweski 92)
Bennet argues about how coroprate companies use diversity talk just to look good not to actually change anything, this would be an argument where there is no support behind it, its only empty words and empty promises (Bennet 34)
Salamon & Xie give us insight how race and gender affect how well ones voice is hear, they argue that some people are heard more then others and other opinions are brushed to the side. This is the exact same argument that Bennet argues as well.(Salamon & Xiw 187)
