Based on what we have learnt so far, to move forward, indigenous data governance needs to include care, respect, and innovation. The future of research, data, and technology has to be about working with the tribe and not taking from indigenous communities. Universities and research centres should partner with indigenous peoples and follow the CARE principles to respect consent and reciprocity for the cultural traditions before sharing any material. Moreover, being ethical isn't just about giving credit to indigenous tribes; it is also about giving back and ensuring that indigenous communities benefit from their knowledge. The future of ethical knowledge sharing will depend on care, responsibility, and respect.
