Block Scheduling:
A fixed, repeating schedule template that assigns staff to specific shifts. The "blocks" are pre-determined.
Example: The schedule for "Week 1" is always the same, then it repeats.
Cyclic Scheduling:
Repeating pattern over a set period.
(e.g., 6 or 8 weeks), ensuring fair distribution of weekends and undesirable shifts.

Nursing Care Hours (NCH): The number of hours of care provided per patient per day.
Formula:
Total Nursing Care Hours / Total Patient Census
3. Calculations

Full-Time Equivalent (FTE): A standard based on a 40-hour workweek (2080 hours/year).
Purpose: Used to calculate how many total staff are needed to cover all hours of care.
