Natural Science
Animal Roles in Ecosystems
Key Concept :
Each animal plays an important role in maintaining the health and sustanabilty of ecosystems. in the ecosystem bees are known as pollinators, they are responsible for producing alot of : the foods that we eat.(people, 2025) Due to bees being pollinators they make sure that plant reproduction takes place by taken pollen and sprerading it to other flowers
class activity
the learners will create their very own food chain featuring different types of animals. this allow as them to explore how each animal supports their ecosystem.
Animal Adaptations and Functions
Key Concept
Over the years, animals have evolved very special physical and behavioural traits which enable them to perform tasks that help humans. An example of this is service animals; there are many people with different types of disabilities or health problems who rely on a service animal that helps them every day (Sentient, 2024). These types of animals are trained for a certain period of time to develop certain skills that will aid them in identifying whenever their owner is experiencing an issue.
Class activity
Animal detective; this will be a role-playing activity where the learners will have to match different types of animal traits with human uses.
Social science
Cultural Significance of Animal
Key Concept
across many different cultures, animals are found to be embedded in many traditons, beliefs and different daily practices. there are societies that consider an animal as sacred symbols.

Animal Stories Around the world
Community Roles and Animal Welfare
key concept
animals contribute to a communities well being in many different ways. birds are one of the many animals that serve a purpose in the community "they play the ecological role of controlling mice and rat populations"(people, 2025) birds can also be known as natures sanitation crew.
class activity
Inviting an animal rescue worker for a q&a lesson
Technology
Animal-Inspired Innovation
key Concept
nature has inspired many technological breakthroughs through what is known as biomimicry which means engineers and designers will create items that tend to replicate different animal traits that could solve human problems. an example of this is japans bullet trains, this was inspired by the kingfischer bird, these birds have the ability to dive into water with very minimal splash due to the shape of its nose which in turn inpiserd the nose of the train. (Landrum, 2025). the design of the train allows it to reduce noise and increase speed (Landrum, 2025)
class activity
bulding a simple robot that should be able to mimic animal movements
Digital Tools for Animal Study
Key Concept
when it comes to modern technology it allows many scientist and learners to study animals in a more ethical way. an example is animatronic animals, these are robotic creatures that have been designed to simulate real life animals that use sensors and ai and some have built in cameras if they are placed in an environment to camoflauge and record animal activity. most animatronics can be found at museums to enhance a vistors experience (Dino-walk.com, 2025)
class activity
"Track the Wild" this activity is where different types of animal toys/cards will be placed in many different spots in the classroom and the students will use coordinates or instructions to find them
