Enzymes & Substrates
-
-
-
-
-
-
competitive inhibition: closely resembls substrate, can bind to enzyme at the active site
non-competitative inhibative: binds to another part of the enzyme, away from the active site
Processes
spontaneous process: occur without energy input; can happen quick or slow, no additional energy required, free emergy decreases, more stable, energonic, products>reactants
Non-spontaneous process: additional energy required, less stable, exergonic, reactants>products, increases free energy
Free energy: the portion of a systems energy that can do work when temp. and pressure are uniform throughout the system, as in a living cell

-
T: temperature, in Kelvin

Phosphorylated intermediate: recipient molecule, is more reactive, with more free enrgy
