Animals and Creatures That Help Us
NATURAL SCIENCE
Farm and Working animals
Key Concept: Farm animals help people with food and work.
Activity: “Animal Helpers Chart” – match animals with the jobs they do (cows–milk, dogs–protection).
Skills: Observation, questioning, recording.
Values: Respect for living things, care for the environment.
Helpful Insects
Key Concept: Bees and ants help plants grow and keep the environment clean. Learners explore how bees and ants help plants grow through pollination and soil care, promoting observation and respect for living things (DBE, 2011)
Activity: “Bee Detectives” – observe videos or pictures of bees and record how they help plants.
Skills: Observation, questioning, recording.
Values: Respect for living things, care for the environment.
SOCIAL SCIENCE
People Who Work with Animals

TECHNOLOGY
Tools and Shelters for Animals

Skills: Designing, planning, creating.

Activity: “Inspired by Nature” – explore how ants build tunnels or birds make nests, then build similar models.
Skills: Investigating, exploring, design thinking.
Values: Curiosity, creativity, appreciation of nature.
