CONCEPT: Herding or guarding this is when many animals have specialized skills that support human life and ecosystem.
INQUIRY ACTIVITY: Learners will do an observation and investigation, students will observe videos and images as well as books based on the topic, of dog trained as service animals, then learners will research how their skills aid humans.
ANIMALS ADAPTATIONS AND BEHAVIOURS
CONCEPT: understanding how different animals physical features and behaviours help them survive and assist humans.
INQUIRY ACTIVITY: Students will experiment and compare; Students will compare the physical features of animals used as helpers and discuss how these features aid their roles. They can simulate an animal's adaptation in a creative model or drawing (Source: Britannica).
SOCIAL SCIENCE
IMPORTANCE OF ANIMALS IN OUR LIVES
CONCEPT: Different cultures around the world view animals like an elephant, horse and dog as symbols or helpers.
ENQUIRY ACTIVITY; learners will have an activity which they will research on their own from home, they will need to research stories or traditions involving animals from various cultures, then share their stories in class.
HUMAN RESPONSIBILITY FOR CARING FOR ANIMALS
KEY CONCEPT: People have a duty to care for and treat animals kindly, especially animals that help us.
ENQUIRY ACTIVITY: The teacher will write out a play about how animals and pets should be treated, Learners will act out the parts and gain insight on sub topic.
TECHNOLOGY
TECHNOLOGY SUPPORTING ANIMALS
KEY CONCEPT: Technology has advanced they have devices that can track animals as well as devices such as hearing aids that help guide and protect animals who help humans.
ENQUIRY ACTIVITY: Learners will research and design devices they think help animals.
CREATING GOOD HABITATS WITH TECHNOLOGY
KEY CONCEPT: Technology like aquariums and bird sanctuaries help animals live better.
ENQUIRY ACTIVITY: Learners will go out on a learning excursion to see different animals habitats and once they come back they will do a detail activity explaining what they have learnt through observation.
