Animals and creatures that help us
Technology
How animals build their home
Animals such as Bee's help us understand that we need to build structures using clever shapes, we copy their ideas and use them in our wall structure.
Class activity : learners need to build a animal home out of recycable materials
Processing natural materials from animals
We process different types of material that we get from animals, such as the wool of sheep, the yarn goes thru a machine that turns the wool into yarn. We use the leather form cowhide to make leather bags and shoes
Class activity: learners will do a shorting activity, they need to short which raw product belongs to which animal.
Natural Science :
Food production
Animals give us food that we eat every day. Animals such as chickens gives us eggs and Bee's gives us Honey.
Life cycle
Animals play a important role in our lives, their life cycle needs to constantly grow because we get our basic needs from these animals , such as food and clothes we wear.
Life and living: According to (Stacey Brenton:2025) "Without animals, life on Earth would unravel—fast. Bees keep our crops alive. Worms build soil beneath our feet. Elephants shape forests.
Activity: Learners are going to do a activity about what we get from each animal. for example we get eggs from chickens and milk from cows.
Social Science
History
Animals in communities
Animals were considered the main source of transport in the past, People use to depend on different animals for food .
Class activity : the learners will do a activity on how they think animals helped us in the past such as we used animals for transport.
Geographic
Cultural roles of animals
People needed animals to create medicine they would use honey. People needed pig mud to build houses .
Adapting: Animals are adapting to the environment such as camels that can adapt to the weather in the dessert. According to (Samantha Smith: 2025) "Desert animals like camels have adapted over thousands of years for life in an environment where there is little water available for long periods of time. Drinking less water is a behavioral adaptation, but the behavioral change spurred physiological adaptations over generations. The ability to withstand long periods of no access to water is all thanks to the camel’s hump."
Class activity: the learners will get age-appropriate map of Africa and they will have to identify where does each animal live or adapt
CLASS ACTIVITY: The learners will make a family tree, showing that dogs come from wolves.
