Animals and creatures that help us
Natural Science
Cows and Dairy Production
Activity: Show a video of cows being milked. Learners say what they see and explain each step. Skills: observation and communication.
Burhum (2025) explains that cows provide milk, which offers numerous benefits, such as skin health, makes your bones stronger, and many more.
Bees and Honey Production
Shoemaker (2023) states that bees not only pollinate plants but also produce honey, which is rich in nutrients and antioxidants and useful for humans.
Activity: Show learners honeycomb and a jar of honey. Let them taste and ask them to describe the colour, taste and texture. Skills: observation, communication and sensory skills.
Social Science
Guide dogs work for people with disabilities
Guide dogs help their owners who are blind or visually impaired to get around safely (Guide Dogs, n.d.).
Activity: Learners work in pairs. One learner is blindfolded with a sock or cloth.
The other learner acts as the “guide dog” and carefully helps their partner navigate a simple obstacle course. After completing the course, learners switch roles so both experience guiding and being guided.
Skills: Teamwork, problem-solving and communication.
Caring for animals
Chalamet (11.05.2025) states that we must feed the animals, give them water and keep them safe, but they also need empathy and respect.
Activity: Take the learners to a farm and let them observe how animals are fed, watered and cared for. Skills: observation and questioning.
Technology
Robot animals for assistance
Are made to help people, like real animals do, they are solving real world problems (Knowridge, 2025).
Watch a video of a robot dog or other robots. Let learners compare real animals to robots. Skills: observation and comparison.
Technology for animal care
Show pictures of these tools for example automated feeding systems. Learners discuss how technology helps animals survive and how humans' benefit. Skills: discussion and problem-solving.
SuperPay (26.10.2023) states that the integration of technology in animal care brings numerous benefits to both animals and caretakers like enhanced monitoring and improved efficiency.
