      - Start w/important key terms in 1st sentence
      - Last sentence is just as important. Contains the significance or impact statement
      - Includes statement of need and indentify overall objective
    - - May be combined with abstract
      - Provides an overview of the rest of the presentation
      - Details approach goal in 2-5 steps
      - Writen as a list rather than paragraph, in boldface
      - should be followed by brief description of proposed approach
        
        Summarized: preliminary results/rationale, hypothesis, approach for each aim
        
        hypothesis in italics
    - - May include important preliminary results
      - What is known about the topic
      - Section should convince reviewers that research will have an impact on the topic
      - Structure: Within subsections- 1. Background/known 2. Unknown/problems/need 3. Aim/hypothesis (optional) 4. Summary (optional)
    - - aka experimental approach, methodology, or strategy section
      - Function: detail approaches fofr each specific aims
      - Heart of the proposal
      - How have you arrived at preliminary findings, what you'll contribute, outcome of experiment, alternative approaches, and implications of project
      - Divide the research approach into subjections based on specific aims
        
        Heading: Specific aim/objective 2. Rationale/hypothesis 3. Experimental design 4. Analysis 5. Expected results (include significance) (2-5 under 1)

      - State impact and significance
      - Focus on how human begins benefit over your personal goals
