Love working with kids
I naturally connect with children and understand their emotions and behaviors easily.
This made me curious about how children with Down syndrome express themselves differently.
After noticing reactions from a child with down syndrome in real life, I wanted to learn how visuals can help them express emotions better.
Likes to give back to the community
I’ve always cared about giving back since it is a big teaching in my religion, Sikhism and felt a sense gratitude when I know I've done something good for someone, even something as simple as, giving leftover food away.
I started exploring how I could make a difference for children with special needs after seeing the daily struggles they endured.
This led me to research more about Down syndrome and understand how visuals could make learning and communication easier.
Love for art and designing
I enjoy designing, creating creative things such as cards, posters, videos, etc.. and making things look organised and appealing.
While exploring ideas, I noticed how visual learning tools are both creative and purposeful.
I realized I could use my creativity to design something that helps others.
Psychology & emotional expression
I’ve always been interested in how people express or manage emotions and why some people react to different things in a their own unique, individual way
This curiosity pushed me to explore emotional intelligence in children with Down syndrome.
I found that emotion cards can teach children to label and recognize feelings.

Helps me create visually appealing daily planners and emotion cards
Guides choices of colors, icons, and illustrations so they are engaging and easy to understand

Helps me make the visuals playful and relatable to children
Guides how I present emotions and routines so children can easily recognize and use them
Makes it easier that I am able to spend a lot of time with them, considering my product is for kids, specifically kids with Down syndrome. This makes it significantly easier to work with them and interact with them during later stages of the product creation.

The entire concept of my product is centred around the psychology behind visual aids and how they help children with Down syndrome, as well as, in one section of my product, I will be researching a lot about emotional expression and how kids with Down syndrome struggle with that. This is good because, since I already have a interest in these topics I will find the research engaging and interesting, making me more motivated to work on building my product and understand the psychology behind it.
