Concept 1: Classification: Learners will clasify animals that provide food and materials for humans from the ones that dont (Farmers Weekly, 2023).
Concept 2: Observation: Learners will observe samples/images of animal products and match them witht the animal that produses it (Farmers Weekly, 2023).
Sub-topic 2
Concept 1: Environmental awareness: Learners should watch a clip that shows bees pollinating and how that benefits the environment (SANBI, 2022).
Concept 2: Observation: Learners should observe how earthworms makes the soil healthy at the school garden or in a jar (SANBI, 2022).
Class activity: Animals that help the environment (DBE, 2011).

Sub-topic 1
Concept 1: Develop empathy: Learners must ude role play as a guide dog and owner to demondtrate how people living with disabilities rely on animals (Chaplin, 2006).
Concept 2: Understanding social roles: Learners must explore how animals assist humans in their jobs. Invite a police officer to demonstrate how they train dogs to help them in their jobs (Chaplin, 2006).
Class activity: Working and helper animals in our society (DBE, 2011).
Sub-topic 2
Concept 1: Identify community role players: Plan an excursion to the local farm so that learners can understand how animals help the farmer produce food for us (Chaplin, 2006).
Concept 2: How animals help humans to survive: Disscuss what will happen if animals did not exist (Chaplin, 2006).

Concept 1:Understanding process of production: Learners must observe samples of animal products and explore the process of changing them from raw product to final product (DBE, 2011).
Concept 2: Understanding of how technology makes the process of production easy and efficient: Show learners an video that compares how products were made before tecnology and after the introduction of technology (DBE, 2011).
Class activity: Making useful products from animal materials (DBE, 2011).
Sub-topic 2
Concept 1: Problem solving: Investigate what birds need from the school garden in order to stay hydrated and fed (Naude & Meier, 2025).
Concetp 2: design process: Learners should design a bird feeder for the school garden (Naude & Meier, 2025).
Class activity: Designing tools or models that help animals or humans (DBE, 2011).
