    - - Animals have always been an important part of people’s history and culture. Long ago, people used animals like donkeys, horses, and camels to travel and carry goods. In many cultures, cows, sheep, and goats were seen as signs of wealth and were often used in celebrations or traditional ceremonies. People also told stories and sang songs about animals to teach lessons and share their beliefs. Today, animals are still part of our traditions — for example, using cows for milk and sheep for wool continues to be important in many communities (Assendelft, 2024).
      - Animals are used in many special ways in different cultures. In some communities, cows are important in weddings and festivals because they represent wealth and kindness. Sheep provide wool that people use to make traditional clothes, and goats may be given as gifts to show respect. In African cultures, animals like lions and elephants often appear in stories and dances to teach children about bravery and wisdom. These traditions show that animals are not only useful for food and clothing but also play a big part in our cultural celebrations and values (Assendelft, 2024).
    - - Draw a simple map/picture of a farm (fields, barn, chicken coop, dam). Have learners place animal cut-outs (cows, sheep, chickens) in the correct place on the farm map.
      - Show traditional items: leather sandals, Zulu beaded skirts, sheepskin cloaks. Learners design their own cultural outfit, using animals as a reference.
      - Then vs now collage: Learners cut and paste images showing animal use in the past and present day.
- - - - Design a milking tool: Learners make a simple milking model using cardboard and gloves (filled with water)
      - Build a mini farm: Learners design a small model farm using boxes, sticks and other recycled materials
      - Packaging and design for dairy products: Show learners different types of packaging, such as milk cartons. Discuss why packaging is important. Learners create their own packaging design using paper/cardboard.
