Animals and creatures that help us
Natural science
Animal groups and jobs.
the grouping of helpful animals based on their diet, habitat , and physical characteristics ( eg, insects , mammals , birds )
The ecosystem challenge. Have a set of different animals on different cards. Learners will be split into smaller groups and they must pick 2 cards from the deck and using art supplies they must make that animal. Thereafter they must group that animal into mammal , insects , bird

.
Nature buddies or partnerships.
Understanding the mutualistic relationship between humans and domesticated animals focusing on how both benefit.
Ecosystem role play . In small groups , students select a human-animals relationship , a guide dog and blin person , farmer and cow . Each group will have their own animal and human relationship and they will have to act it out.

Social science
How old things shaped our world today
The past role of specific animals ( eg , horses for transport , cattle for agriculture ) in shaping human settlements , culture , and for money
Object investigation : Then and Now. Show the learners images of different tools and equipment used in the past and some that is used now and the learners must guess if it was used in the past or present time and from this learners can guess what it is made from and what it was used for.

Caring for things the best way you can
Thinking about how we must be kind and careful with animals that help us and making sure they are treated well and are healthy.
The habitat hero experiment. You can ask learners what specific animals live in certain habitats and what do they need. You create 3 groups ranging from best care , neglect care and too much care and using this learners can see which type of care they need to show to animals.

Technology
using special tools and machines to make animals better helpers.
The use of special tools and machines to improve the work and well-being of animals, such as tracking devices , automated milking systems , and specialized gear for service animals.
Design a better helper tool . Students identify a problem faced by a helper animals ( eg , a guide dog navigating a new city , a sheep being monitored on a large farm) and use design thinking principles to sketch a solution. Students can use materials like pipe cleaners , cardboard , tape or any recycled items

Smart science to keep our animals healthy and safe for the future.
The application of smart science ( eg , selective breeding , veterinary medicine) to enhance the helpful traits and health of animals for sustainable human benefit.
Veterinarian detectives : The healthy farm mystery. Start by telling the students that they are detectives and their job is to use smart science to keep animals safe before they get sick. You can show them equipment such as thermometer , syringe , microscope , scale .
