if you work at a restaurant, and they always throw away extra food, should you break the rule to perhaps donate the food to people who need it
-
Islamic decision making
- if the food is unsafe, then by giving it, you wouldn't be helping the people anymore, you would be harming them
- if the manager agrees with you after proposing the idea to him, then you won't get any punishment, therefore you should donate it
- CONCEQUENCES FROM MANAGER
- if you know your manager is cold hearted or something (why are you working for him), and that he wont donate the food even after you explained why you should, then it is fine to go against his back, because not helping those who are struggling even though you are able to is a sin
- if the consequences are more lenient, then it is fine so long as they don't get more severe if the manager keeps finding you donating the food
- if you lose this job, and your family will be struggling - you have to prioritize your wellbeing first, because, if you can't help yourself, how will you help others
- if you lose your job, but you or your family aren't requiring your own income, or you are able to get another job so that your family isn't at any risk, then it is fine
