People use design to make beehives that protect bees.
Beehives must be strong, waterproof, and easy to open.
Bees use natural materials (wax) to build honeycombs.
Humans learn from nature’s designs (called biomimicry)
Activity: Design and Make a Beehive
Materials:
Cardboard boxes, paper rolls, glue, scissors
Yellow and black paper, string, bottle caps
Optional: natural items (sticks, leaves, grass)
Discuss what a beehive looks like and what it’s used for.
Learners plan their hive on paper (draw the shape and label parts).
Using materials, they build a small beehive model in groups or pairs.
Decorate and present their hives to the class.
Discuss: “How does your design help bees live safely?”
