Hazards in Bulgaria, :, Tatyana Taneva 10/6 - Coggle Diagram
Earthquakes
What health impacts did/could this have for the region many injuries and deaths (immediate casualties, delayed medical care)
post traumatic stress
hospitals will be overwhelmed
What social impacts did/could this have for the region dispacement and no home for many citizens
this hazard can increase migartion
education and many institution critical for life disruption
What economic impacts did/could this have on the region Damage of infrastrcuture (roads, bridges, buidings, raiways
Tourism impact
reconstruciton costs
money spent on healthcare, emergency cases, shelters and etc
GDP decline
Explain how this happens tectonic plates move slowly over time and stress is made whenever the plates slide right each other. Suddently the ground snaps and the pressure is released in the form of eartqauke
How can we prevent this hazard from happening/minimize the damage
Firslty, old buidings, unable to stand an eartquake should be reconstructed to survive eartquakes. Secondly, new buidings should be built to be very stable, able to stand this hazard. Lastly, scientists should monitor dangerous areas and in case of emergency evacoate people from unsatble buildings.
Landslides
What health impacts did/ could this have for the region - injuries and death cases
- blocked roads can incraese risk of medical help/ rescue will be hard
- debris casuses breathing problems scuh as asthma and others
stress and panic attacks
What economic impacts did/could this have for the region - Damage homes, workspaces and access to either of them - transpartation can be disrpted - a lot of money from the economy spend on rebuilt
How can we prevent this hazard from happening/minimize damage - the building of strong walls supporting the dangerous areas - avoid buidlding homes on unstable hills - monitor regualarly
Expain how this happens When it rains, the ground becomes wet and heavy and when it is located on hills or mountains it can either weather or loosen and create a landslide.
What social impacts did/could this have for the region - lose of homes, closed schools, no access to to other cities (due to lack of transportation), migration, lost trust in government for no adequte reaction
Floods
-
What social impacts did/could have had this for the region migration
families can loose homes and be forced to live in shelters
closed schools- no learning/ stop of country's prosperity
protests due to inadequate reaction from the government
Explain how this happens heavy rainfall causes rivers or the ports of the Sea to overflow their banks and the water flooods the cities.
What health impacts did/could this have had for the region death and many injuries
getting sick due to dirty water and lack of clean water suitable for drinking and bathing
no good diet
overwhelmed hospitals and clinics
no electricity
What economic impact did/could this have for the region damage of infrastructure - homes, roads, shools, neseccary equipment for harsh winter takes money, enrrgy and resources for it to be restored
How can we prevent this hazard from happening /minimize the damage sensing the climate changes, people must be prepaed and ready there must be advanced planning of the urbanized territiories more stability needed for the buiddings need to activate work with insurers
