Animals and creatures that help us - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Activity: learners will investigate how bees help flowers by experimenting with coloured powdered paint and water. The learners will have a printed-out flower with a cupcake wrapper stuck in the middle. Inside the wrapper will be water and using an ice lolly stick (bee) with different coloured powered paint (pollen), they will drop the powder in the water and observe what will happen. They will then communicate how the flower got its colour.
  - - - Activity: class experiment where there will be two containers. One having soil and earthworms and one without. The learners will obersve over a week how the soil has changed and predict which one will be heathier.
- - - - Activity: learners will be encouraged to find a long stick and then with their eyes closed try use the stick to move around the classroom slowly. Then in pairs one learner must close their eyes and let a friend guide them around the classroom. After this we will discuss why guide dogs are important.
  - - - Activity: learners will be given photos of different types of transport. They must sort and sequence them from oldest to newest.
- - - - Activity: learners will first investigate different horse shelters with images. They will then design their houses on a piece of paper. Then using recyclable materials such as lolly sticks, and cardboard they will make a miniature horse shelter. After they have made their shelters, they will test it to see if it holds. Finally they will present their shelters to the class.
  - - - Activity: learners will watch a short video of wool farming. They will then be given worksheets with t-shirts, pants or a dress and a large ball of plain yarn. They will plan which item of clothing they will use and how much yarn they will need to cover it. They will dye the yarn with food colouring and then stick on the yarn to the worksheet to make an item of clothing. Then they will discuss what item they made and how it is similar to what we wear every day.
