burdened with carrying the traumatic memories, sensations, & emotions of events, keeping them stuck in the past
When gets triggered, clts feel & act like helpless children,
displaying intense feelings of horror, rage, anger, shame, guilt, and despair.
Perpetrator Role
:!:suffers a loss of soul :!:
is an internalized version of the actual perpetrator in real life
to keep the trauma knowledge out of awareness through extreme tactics to silence the victim's voice
critical voice telling survivors that they are bad, worthless, crazy, or worse, that they deserve it.
===========================================
For sexual / physical abuse, come in the forms of fragmented intrusive images, disturbing body memories, sensations, & flashbacks
Great temptation being perpetrator
:warning: gives them the illusion of power & control, make clts feel strong & tough
:red_flag:
repeated pattern: violence, shame & blame towards their inner victim & others
Abandoning Authority
:!: suffers a lack of self-worth & agency :!:
like a parent or a organization system e.g. school, church, government
overlooked - there was internalized no rescuer available / was someone there, but they didn't do anything to stop the abuse, neglect or oppression
-clts learn to abandon themselves to
dissociation, self-harm, addictions, eating disorder, poor self-care, suicide to end the pain
Why should they care & value themselves?
an expert at dulling the sense through denial, escapism & making excuses :arrow_right: blind eye & ear to cries of wounded victim role.
