Types of farm animals
Cows: A cow is a female that has given birth to at least one calf(BC SPCA, 2023)
Sheep: One way sheep communicate with each other and their surrounding is through their excellent sense of smell.(BC SPCA, 2024)
The teacher will ask the learners to identify and name the farm animals displayed to them
Chicken: Each flock of chickens develops a social hierarchy that determines access to food, nesting sites, mates, and other resources(Britannica, 2025)
Animal Wellness
livestock welfare-focused practises, such as providing adequate space, proper nutrition, and access to veterinary care, helps prevent disease and promotes optimal growth(Farmbrite, 2024)
The teacher will play a short video for the learners about Animal Wellness and ask them question related to the video.
Properly dispose of soiled bedding, expired, or uneaten food so it doesn't make your animals sick(CDC, 2024)
Nutrition
Cows: carbohydrates, amino acids, fatty acids, minerals, vitamins, and water(Erikson & Kalscheur, 2020)
Sheeps: energy, protein, vitamins, minerals, fibre, and water(Schoenian, 2021)
The learners with observe the display of the different animals and their needs, then inquire and communicate what they observed.

Adaptation
The teacher will display a discovery table which will show the learners how animals adapt to their environment.
Sheep: ability to withstand weather extremes, the local pest or parasite burden, and the ability to finish on local, often low quality, forage.(Farm Carbon Toolkit, 2023)

Bees: occur in every continent except Antartica(USGS, 2024)

Making Animal Homes

Learners will design and construct the farm animal homes in groups.
Producing products
Chickens: eggs produced by breeding flocks are incubated in large incubators(Britannica, 2025)
Sheep: meat, wool, lanolin, skins, persian lambskin, dairy(Sheep101, 2021)
Learners will work in groups to investigate which products we use that are produced by farm animals.
