How do the stories relate to the Big Question?
Jasmine's story - (Children of the Sea by Edwige Danticat)
Because every action from political violence to personal separation creates ripples of change in peoples emotions, choices, and lives. The story shows how love, loss, and hope continue to evolve as the characters respond to the forces around them.
Angeli's story (Cat in the Rain by Ernest Hemingway
I honestly think that the dynamic between the husband (George) and his wife affect the story's mood. George feels ignorant, dismissive, and passive while his wife obviously wants more for herself. This dynamic is the cause, the effect is from the cat when the cat runs away from the wife before she can save it, causing her to talk about how deeply she wants this cat and the other stuff in life. She is able to retrieve the cat at the end of the story but either way, the cat is the effects of her long-lasting yearning for more.
