SHows sufficienct net benefit, weighting the total potential diagnostic or therapeutic ebenfits it produceds including the direct beendits to the health of an individual
Clinical Judgement
Benefirst of the x-ray exam must outweigh radiation risk
Exam performed only if clinically necessary
Result muslt alter pt management
Consideration must be given to choose most appropriate exam / imaging
Referrers & Referral
Cannot refer unless
REgistered nurse / midwife who meets the standards and requirements set by the NMBI in relation to the prescirbing of a medical ionising radiation procdure
Registered dentists
Registerd medical practitioner
Registered radiographer
Professional registered with the general medical councile of the UK and is pracitising in NI
Will not refer unless
In writing
States reason
Is accompanied by sufficient medical data
