Animals and creatures that help us - Coggle Diagram

- - - - Conservation & Protection: Some animals (like dung beetles) recycle waste, while others (like frogs) help control insect populations.
        
        ACTIVITY: Learners explore the school yard or local environment (or use pictures) to identify animals that play a role in nature (e.g., ants cleaning up, birds eating seeds).
      - ACTIVITY: Learners work in groups to act out how bees, worms, and birds help the environment. Bees “carry pollen” between flowers, worms enrich the soil, and birds “drop seeds” to grow new plants. Together, they see how these animals keep nature balanced.
- - - - Concept: Working animals are paired with tools/technology (ploughs, carts, saddles, harnesses) (Wikipedia Contributors, 2020).
        
        ACTIVITY: “Build a Mini-Tool” – Learners design (with cardboard/paper) a simple plough or cart that an animal could pull.
    - - Concept: Service animals sometimes replace technology or work with technology (e.g., guide dogs vs. walking sticks, sniffer dogs at airports) (Sanchez, 2024).
        
        ACTIVITY: Learners are given picture cards of working animals (e.g., guide dogs, donkeys pulling carts, police dogs) and machines/tools (e.g., tractors, wheelchairs, airport scanners). In groups, they sort the cards into: Jobs animals do, Jobs machines/technology do, and Jobs where animals and technology work together. (e.g guide dog - harness or walking stick, sniffer dog - airport scanner)
- - - - ACTIVITY: Learners draw or paste pictures of working animals in the past (ploughing with oxen, donkey carts) vs. today (tractors, cars, wheelbarrows).
  - - - ACTIVITY: “Farm to Market Role-Play” Learners pretend to be farmers, shopkeepers, and buyers. They “sell” eggs, wool, or milk in a classroom market.
