Collectivism
This is the idea that the collective interests should prevail over individual ones and the might of the many is much greater than the ‘self-striving’ individual. This sees the state as a mechanism where collective interests are upheld.
SOCIAL CLASS
Revolutionary
Social class can be divided between those who own the means of production and those who do not. Social class is an adversarial opposition between the bourgoise and the proletariat.
For Marx, class conflict was key to understanding human history. This was his theory of 'dialectics' when looking at historical progression.

Social democracy
Social democrats see these divisions based on income and status, most specifically between the ‘white collar’ and ‘blue collar’ workers.
Third way

They adopt a consensus view of society, in contrast to socialism's conflicting view. They believe in social harmony.
Socialists see their ideology as one of the working class. They define this idea of 'class' as a group of people holding a common economic position and therefore social experience.
Deindustrialisation - has caused a shrinking of the proletariat in the west due to the global shift, from the 70s onwards.
