        Reason why Plato thinks that artistic appreciation and the concept of beauty should be taught in education because education can develop and maintain a good, moral character (the concept of the good soul) = preventing the side effects of art. Since Plato believes that everything has its function and place, and that art only reinforces existing knowledge, he thinks that the only truth behind art is the imitation that inspired it, which can be taught
    - - Reinforce: Does not create new knowledge, only reflects on what we already know
      - Art is inspired from observations of reality and should represent the expression of good souls
      - Only displays technical skills; there is no meaning besides the representation of the object imitated
