Water and its spatial distribution - Coggle Diagram
Water and its spatial distribution
What are physical states of water
Solid
Liquid
Gas
What are water stores
Water stores are places which contains water
Types of water stores
Fresh water & Salt water stores
Glaceries, rivers, lakes, groundwater & soils contains fresh water with low salt levels so it can be used more readily
Oceans are saltwater stores which have high salt levels which cannot be directly used
What are Oceans?
Oceans are large masses of water that are connected to one another
What are Glaciers
Glaciers are large masses of ice that rest on land or float in the sea
What are Lakes?
Lakes are water bodies surrounded by land
What are Rivers?
Rivers are natural wide flow of fresh water across the land that stores water temporarily before water flows into another water body
What is Soil?
Soil refers to the loose topmost layer of Earth's surface where plants grow
What is Groundwater?
Ground water is found below the surface of the Earth.
Water enters the Ground through pores in the soil due to gravity.
What is the Hydrological Cycle?
1. Precipitation:
Water falls as rain, or snow if the air is cold enough.
2. Ground Water:
Water that seeps into the ground may be absorbed my plants or stored as ground water.
3. Surface Runoff :
Water flows from the highlands and over the ground surface into the streams & rivers.
4. Evaporation:
The Sun's heat causes water to evaporate. Water changes into water vapour.
5. Transpiration:
Plants give out water vapour through their leaves.
6. Condensation:
Warm moist air cools as it rises. Water vapour changes into water droplets. Small droplets form bigger droplets. Large amounts of water form clouds.
