What I Have Learned About Technology
Technology is more than just devices and machines
Technology describes manmade objects and/or systems that were made to complete a task and make processes easier
"...a formal definition (College Dictionary) of technology indicates that it has a more general meaning which includes any “practical application of knowledge” or “manner of accomplishing a task”." ( Isman, 2012 )
"Technology as manufacturing includes not just about the vat holding the molten steel for our next car or the robot putting together our next computer, but also the entire process... ...from the people running the machines to the electrical grid powering the plant to the legislation passed that regulates the industry." ( Dyer, 2009 )

Technology describes the knowledge and understanding behind processes to make a product

My New Definition
of Technology
Technology is something that permeates our lives, whether it is a device, tool, a process or a means behind a system, that is made to accomplish a task and solve problems for not only humans, but the world around us.
How my thoughts on Technology have changed
I used to think technology, is exclusively something directed towards electronic devices, as it was what "modern technology" is primarily about. But now I see technology as something that extends far beyond electronic devices; an ever growing part of our lives that helped us advance as a society, and eliminating technology as whole would not lead us to where we are today. It's something that can evolve alongside us; as we advance, technology does too.
Why do we need new Technologies?
In this ever growing and evolving world, new problems begin to emerge and we require new technologies to solve these problems.
We would need technology to advance with humanity's growing needs and wants
We need technology, whether electronical or biological, to enhance our survivability as a species

Technology can often be the result of other technologies
Technology was and still is a major part of humanity and the world around us, whether it results in a negative or positive outcome.
"Because technology is an extension of life, it's in parallel and aligned with the same things that life wants. So that I think technology loves biology, if we allow it to." ( Kelly, 2010 )
The invention of the microscope was driven by a need to explore the world of the small, beyond our unaided vision. This technological solution to a long standing problem has in turn enabled us to understand more the workings of the world which in turn has led to the development of more technologies. ( Lane, 2019 )
