a government is a set of institutions by which a society is ruled

in a society where there is law and order, people obey laws and behave in a peaceful and organised way. In order to ensure law and order, the government must presreve safe and security, and ensure justice in society.
the singapore government preserves safety and security by by ensuring the citizens' lives and proeprties are protected from harmful acts. For example, the SPF aims to prevent, detect and deter crime and its work is wide ranging
in singapore, the courts and law enforcement agencies that investigate crimes seek to ensure justice is served in every case. everyone is equal before the law and people are governed by clear and fair rules because what they can and cannot do is spelt out in the constitution and laws.

a situation whereby an individual not only has his or her basic needs such as food, water and shelter, but also has opportunities to pursue his or her goals and enjoy a satisfactory quality of life

In april, amid the growing threat of COVID-19 in the country, the Singapore government urgently passed the COVID-19 (Temporary Measure) Act that made wearing of masks compulsory by law. The Act was implemented to prevent and protect against and ocntrol the transmission of the virus in Singapore

several government agencies were issued a letter of appointment by the Ministry of Health to enforce the Act. The agencies include, the Land Transport Authority (LTA), National Environmental Agency (NEA), National Parks Board (NParks), Singapore Police Force (SPF). Officers from these agencies can issue offenders a Notice of Offences and a fine amount and details of the offence. First time offenders are fined 300 while repeated offnecers are fined 1,000. thousands of safe distancing ambassadors were also deployed. Their main tasks were to remidn the public to abide ny the regulations and ensure that masks were worn correctly

cases involving individuals who defy the law are often resolved with individuals payign the fien meted out by enforcement officers
individuals who ignore the enforcement actiosn or commit more serious crimes are summoned to the state courts for sentencing
for example, in 2020 a woman was caught arguing with a passer by who had told her to wear a mask and abide the law. On 7 May 2021, she was sentenced to 2 weeks jail and fined 2,000 for failing to wear a mask and being a public nuisance.
