Chordata is a diverse phylum of animals characterized by a notochord, a hollow dorsal nerve cord, pharyngeal slits, and a post-anal tail at some stage of their life cycle. This phylum includes vertebrates (like humans, fish, mammals, birds, and reptiles) and some invertebrates, such as tunicates and lancelets.
