The letter to the romans CH3
God Is Faithful
Is there any advantage in being a Jew? Is there any value in being circumcised?
There is great value in every way! First of all, the Jews
have been given the very words of God
.
What if some Jews were not faithful? Will the fact that they weren’t faithful
keep God from being faithful?
Not at all! God is true, even if every human being is a liar.
It is written,
“You are
right
when you sentence me.
You are
fair
when you judge me.”(Psalm 51:4)
「你的判語證明你是公義的；
你雖被人控告，卻終必得勝。」
雖然有些人不信，但那有什麼關係呢？難道上帝的信實可靠會因他們的不信而化為無有嗎？ 4當然不會！縱然人人都撒謊，上帝仍然真實可靠。正如聖經上說：
那麼，猶太人有什麼長處呢？割禮有什麼價值呢？其實在各方面有很多好處！首先，上帝的聖言託付給了猶太人。
3:5-6
Doesn’t the fact that we are wrong prove more clearly that God is right?
Then what can we say? Can we say that God is not fair when he brings his anger down on us? As you can tell, I am just using human ways of thinking.
God is certainly fair! If he weren’t, how could he judge the world?
3:7-8
Someone might argue, “When I lie, it becomes clearer that God is truthful. It makes his glory shine more brightly. Why then does he find me guilty of sin?”
Why not say, “Let’s do evil things so that good things will happen”?
Some people actually lie by reporting that this is what we say. They are the ones who will rightly be found guilty.
也許有人說：「如果我們的虛謊凸顯出上帝的真實，增加祂的榮耀，為什麼祂還要把我們當作罪人審判呢？」 8為什麼不乾脆說「我們作惡吧，好成就善事」？有人毀謗我們，說我們傳這種道理。這些人受審判是罪有應得！
我姑且用人的觀點說：「如果我們的不義反襯出上帝的公義，我們該怎麼說呢？上帝向我們發怒是祂不公正嗎？」 6當然不是！若是這樣，上帝怎麼能審判這世界呢？
No One Is Right With God
What should we say then? Do we Jews have any advantage? 9那麼，我們猶太人比別人優越嗎？
Not at all! We have already
claimed
that Jews and Gentiles
are sinners.
Everyone is
under the power of sin.
所有的人都在罪的權勢之下
It is written,
“No one is right with God, no one at all. 沒有義人，連一個也沒有
No one understands.No one trusts in God. 沒有人明白，沒有人尋求上帝
All of them have turned away.They have all become worthless. 人人偏離正道，變得毫無價值
No one does anything good,no one at all.無人行善，連一個也沒有
It is written,
Their throats are like open graves.他們的喉嚨是敞開的墳墓
With their tongues they tell lies.舌頭上盡是詭詐
The words from their lips are like the poison of a snake.嘴唇有蛇的毒液
Their mouths are full of curses and bitterness.滿口咒詛，言語惡毒
They run quickly to commit murder.殺人流血，腳步飛快
They leave a trail of harmful actions.所到之處，大肆毀滅
They do not know how to live in peace.他們不知道平安之路
They don’t have any respect for God.他們眼中對上帝毫無畏懼
3:19-20
What the law says, it says to those who are ruled by the law.
19我們知道律法所講的都是針對律法之下的人，好叫所有的人都無話可說，使全世界都伏在上帝的審判之下。
Its purpose is to shut every mouth and make
the whole world accountable to God.
律法的目的是為了審判/ 伏在上帝的審判之下
So no one will be considered right with God
by obeying the law
. Instead, the law makes us
more aware of our sin
.20因為無人能夠靠遵行律法被上帝稱為義人，律法的本意是要使人知罪。
Becoming Right With God by Faith
21 But now God has shown us his saving power without the help of the law. But the Law and the Prophets tell us about this.
22 We are made right with God by putting our faith in Jesus Christ. This happens to all who believe. It is no different for the Jews than for the Gentiles.
21但如今，上帝的義在律法以外顯明出來，有律法和眾先知作見證。 22人只要信耶穌基督，就可以被上帝稱為義人，沒有一個人例外。
23 Everyone has sinned. No one measures up to God’s glory.
The free gift of God’s grace makes us right with him. Christ Jesus paid the price to set us free.
23因為世人都犯了罪，虧缺上帝的榮耀， 24但蒙上帝的恩典，靠著基督耶穌的救贖，就被無條件地稱為義人
25 God gave Christ as a sacrifice to pay for sins through the spilling of his blood. So God forgives the sins of those who have faith. God did all this to prove that he does what is right.

He is a God of mercy. So he did not punish for their sins the people who lived before Jesus lived. (因為祂用忍耐的心寬容人過去的罪)
25 上帝藉基督耶穌所流的血使祂成為贖罪祭，讓人憑信心領受。這是為了顯明上帝的義，因為祂用忍耐的心寬容人過去的罪，
26 God did all this to prove
in our own time
that he does what is right.
He also makes right with himself those who believe in Jesus.
So who can brag? No one!
祂也稱信耶穌的為義人。27 既然如此，我們哪裡能誇口呢？當然沒有可誇的。
26好在現今顯明祂的義，使人知道祂是公義的，
28 Or is God the God of Jews only? Isn’t he also the God of Gentiles? Yes, he is their God too.
There is only one God. When those who are circumcised believe in him, he makes them right with himself. Suppose those who are not circumcised believe in him. Then God also will make them right with himself.
Does faith make the law useless? Not at all! We agree with the law.
29難道上帝只是猶太人的上帝嗎？祂不也是外族人的上帝嗎？祂當然也是外族人的上帝。 30因為上帝只有一位，祂本著信稱受割禮的人為義人，也本著信稱未受割禮的人為義人。 31這麼說來，我們是藉著信廢掉上帝的律法嗎？當然不是！我們反倒是鞏固律法。
27() Are people saved by the law that requires them to obey? Not at all!
They are saved because of the law that requires faith. We firmly believe that a person is made right with God because of their faith. They are not saved by obeying the law.
靠什麼方法讓人不能誇口呢？靠遵行律法嗎？不是！是靠信主的方法。 28因為我們堅信人被稱為義人是藉著信，不是靠遵行律法。
CH4 Abraham’s Faith Made Him Right With God
Abraham believed God. God accepted Abraham’s faith, and so his faith made him right with God.
24我們
相信
使我們主耶穌從死裡復活的
上帝
，所以必被算為義人
24 We
believe in the God
who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
So God will accept our faith and make us right with himself.
25Jesus was handed over to die for our sins. He was raised to life in order to make us right with God.
25耶穌受害而死是為了我們的過犯，祂復活是為了使我們被稱為義人。
