JLR - They were severely disrupted by the cyber attack (August 31), which had an affect on its two main UK plants. JLR shut down its IT systems in an effort to minimise any damage, employees were also sent home. It is believed that the purpose of the attack is to sought money. Ever since (9 September) the shut down they have been unable to operate its production lines, either in the UK or abroad, and employees have been told to remain at home. A group of cyber criminals who were responsible for causing huge disruptions at M&S and the Co-op claimed responsibility for the attack. Initially, JLR claimed that no data had been stolen, however 11 days after the attack they have admitted that some data has been impacted, but declined to say exactly who the date belonged to, such as customers, suppliers or JLR itself.
