cell structure - Coggle Diagram
cell structure
cell membrane
structure:
1) Phospholipid bilayer
2) cell wall
3) hydrophilic head(water absorbent)
4) hydrophobic tail(water repellent
-
phospholipids :
1) lollipop shaped
2) have hydrophilic heads (water absorbent) faces outwards, towards the water and outside of the cell
3) Hydrophobic tail ( water repellent) faces inwards away from water forming inner part of membrane
-
nucleus :
-
function:
1) acts as the cells control centre
2) stores the cells genetic material( DNA )
3) regulates the cells activities
mitochondria :
structure :
1) double membrane folded structure
2) smooth outer membrane
3) folded inner membrane(cristae)
function :
1) powerhouse of cell
2) respires to give cell energy
3) convers substances into ATP through cellular respiration
Mitosis
what is mitosis ? the process of the body making new cells, one cell divides into the genetically identical diploid daughter cells
stages of mitosis :
1) interphase - at the end of interphase chromosomes become visible
2) prophase - chromosomes condense ( become shorter and fatter)
3) metaphase - the chromosomes line up in the centre of the cell
4) telophase - membrane forms around chromosomes and become nuclei of two cells , the nucleus divides
ribosomes
structure: - Consists of two subunits , a large and small that meet during translatiation
-
-
diffusion
simple diffusion : when particles move from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration
osmosis
osmosis : The movement of water from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration through a partially permeable membrane
